Publisher Description
Thirty-year-old Jared Beckett has always lived his life cynically. Adding to his resentment, when Jared was 16, he had met a girl who made him question everything he believed. When she didn't return his flirtations, their two-year friendship grew strained, forced, and even painful until he said goodbye.
Nearly 14 years later, Jared has returned to his hometown for the summer, reawakening his dark memories, and her. With a new light illuminating his world, revelations about his covert friendship are revealed to his family and friends, including himself. As his secretive nature and progressing resentment deteriorate any relationships he has left, in an unexpected move, he reaches out to help her. Is she the only one who can bring down his walls, unlock Jared Beckett's unconscious heart, and revive him before it's too late?
'The Keys to Jericho' was chosen as an "Official Selection" in the Romance category of Apple Literary's 2017 Annual Book Awards.

Raw, honest and that there is always a chance for change and love in life
This book was honest and raw. I loved the main character Jared “Jericho” Beckett and his commentary on his life and the others around him. This book is long but persevere - it is worth it. I loved Dash and Rio, Jared’s best friends, Adam, Jared’s Dad and Kat, Jared’s love from high school. These characters like Jared are multi layered and hilarious!
One of my favourite parts of the book is when Adam, Dash and Rio do an intervention on Jared to shake him out of his rut, address his past and make admit he loves Kat.
The transformation of Jared and Kat is amazing. Jared’s simple gesture to show Kat how to get her confidence back to learn to drive sets them both on the path back to each other.
I recommend this book to other readers, it is sad, thought provoking, and tackles the realities of life and that you have to be brave enough to embrace challenges.
