A chance encounter sparks a passionate romance that will alter the lives of two young souls forever. Alison, a spirited biology student and army medic, thrives on adventure and discipline. Christian, a reserved infantry officer, is tethered to a faltering relationship and a life of routine. When their paths cross an unexpected connection ignites amidst the chaos of drill and camaraderie.
From stolen glances across a field to whispered desires aboard a cargo plane, Alison and Christian's chemistry defies army regulations and personal reservations. As they navigate the thrill of new love, their bond deepens through steamy letters, daring escapades, and a bold weekend that pushes their boundaries. But as their romance blossoms, the pressures of academic failure, societal judgment, and family expectations threaten to unravel their dreams.
Twenty-five years later, a single letter rekindles old flames. Now in her forties, Alison, hardened by a broken marriage and the demands of motherhood, faces a choice: confront the past or embrace a future with the man who once set her heart ablaze. Christian, now a seasoned soldier with a life of his own, holds the key to a love that never truly faded. Will they reclaim the magic of the night they met, or will the ghosts of their choices keep them apart?

Spicy!
Jeremy is one of the Lieutenants leading the reservist military exercise that Ali is participating in. I wasn’t sure of their chemistry at first, but a delightful game of touch football at the end of the exercise changed my mind.
The true raunchiness begins after both have returned to their regular lives in Sydney and Canberra. They struggle with the long distance nature of their budding relationship, but find ways to keep things sexy in between visits.
Watching Ali become increasingly confident is a delight - she’s a bit of a minx. The author also does a great job of escalating the sexual chemistry with each encounter (like a good vindaloo, it gets hotter the further you get into it). But at the same time, the
romantic relationship stays so warm and genuine.
A spicy story with a soul.
A romance novel set in the heart (literally) of the bush capital? Say no more! A refreshing debut for this up-and-coming Canberra author, The Night We Met, unfurls a narrative filled with love and heartbreak from a male perspective. The characters are lovable, the plot is one that stays with you, and the scene has a distinctly Canberra flavour. We can’t wait to see more from this local talent.
