A true horror
Frank Peretti is known as a supernatural thriller writer. His Darkness series made a big impact with how people saw the spiritual realm, and this book made a big impact with how you look at sin. Before I go on I just want to say that this is no kids book. It's filled with gory images and frightening scenes. The creature is pure evil and probably the scariest thing to ever come out of the Christian fiction world. It's also a very dark book. This is a Christian book for those wondering, but not one that will leave you with a joyful smile on your face after the last page. It portrays sin in the most frightening way, but also the truest way. Everything the creature does is what sin does, and it grabs hold of you like a fishes hook, just like it says in the book. The epilogue is just chilling, especially the last sentence. After the last page is turned it will leave you trembiling in your sleep. If you were in sin while reading it I would warn you that you will be greatly disturbed. So in conclusion: this is the most frightening book I've ever read, and not the jump in your seat frightening either. It does get violent and like I said, gory. The town is creepy in itself. It's truly a masterpiece of fiction! It kept my heart pounding throughout the whole thing. I would recommend it to people fifteen and over, not for younger readers. Be warned, you will never look at sin the same way.
