A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
Writing THE REBEL was harder than I thought it would be when I first put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). I thought I had the hero, Cole, all worked out. He was gruff and strong-willed, a silent giant who got the job done with no fuss and very little conscience. But then I had to go and give him amnesia, and everything changed. Without his dark memories to haunt him, he became a different guy entirely. Suddenly I was writing two heroes instead of one. Lucy, the heroine, is one of the sweetest characters I've ever written, and she is totally NOT the sort of girl the troubled Cole should be with - but she is the one he needs. Hopefully you'll agree :)

The Rebel
Loved this book and can't wait for third instalment. It is equally as good as others by the author and a very sexy, enjoyable read. The lead female is historically appropriate for that period. She used her most powerful attributes, her love & faith in the goodness of those close to her. Awesome read, thanks CJ.
Not her best work
I have loved most of CJ Archers novels in the past, unfortunately this one is lacking.
The main female character acts like a whiney stroppy spoilt child, that always has to get her own way regardless of the people her ideas affect, & has her head in the clouds with silly romantic notions that aren't supported at all and keeps jumping into bed with whomever pays here the slightest attention.
The main male character is supposed to be a hardened assassin, but comes across as a witless, spineless fool, that just does what ever she whines about for long enough, especially after his memories return.
I found the characters in this book particularly lacking, seeing as CJ normally writes strong main characters.
