The Red Mass

In the spring of 1794, Hector Fotheringay, a handsome and arrogant officer of the King’s Guard, finds his privileged London existence crumbling. Debts mount, his servant mutters seditious talk, and the woman he loves scorns him for his idle life. A violent clash with French émigrés brings the shadow of a duel, and a drunken insult to the Prince of Wales seals his disgrace.

Whisked away from the gaming tables and parade grounds, Hector is thrust into a web of conspiracy that stretches from the salons of Saint James’s to the blood-drenched Place de la Révolution. As secrets surface and old loyalties are tested, he must decide whether he is a fop or a fighter, and at what cost honor can be reclaimed.
