Customer Reviews
As good as the first
Great follow up book! Characters are complex and story is well developed. Loved it!
Terrible editing
The editing in this book was so appalling that it distracted from any credibility in the story. The storyline was really weak and felt lazily done. If you are going to make people pay for a book, at least run it through the spell checker, reader’s have a right to quality.
The Redemption of Callie and Kayden
Um. What???
I really, really loved The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden and was literally waiting on the edge of my seat for this book to come out.
All in all- it was great. I got sucked in, I felt the emotions of the characters and was interested in turning to the next page to find out what would happen next.
I get that not everything is neatly wrapped up in life. I do. It's a tragic reality - but for it to be the reality of BOTH the books main characters was really disappointing.
Yes, it's beyond-words-great that they were able to grow and heal and move on from what had happened, but it would've been nice to give the readers (particularly those who have been through the same ordeals) some sense of hope and that our legal and justice systems are in place for a reason.
But mostly I was just really turned off by the ending. Or lack of in Kayden's case. There didn't actually seem to be a whole lot of resolution there.
And the same could be said for Callie also. It was like the author was trying desperately to meet her deadline and figured to do so shed wrap a horrid, twisted, tragic but lovely love story in a couple of sentences and what felt like mid-chapter.
There wishy-washy ambivalent and cliche direction that the characters spoke of, as if a few 'I'm getting stronger and I'm loved' mantras are enough to wrap up a story like this.
But realistically - I'm pretty sure most of the population who HASN'T been through these abuses and crimes tells themselves stuff like that just to get through a hard day sometimes - so for both Callie and Kayden's story's to end up like that and mirroring each other in lack of resolution for the perpetrators of the abuse against them - it was thoroughly underwhelming and just dragged the whole story down. I needed more after the characters had been through so much. And I needed not to end so abruptly.
It disappoints me that so much of my like of most of these 2 books was undone so thoroughly by such sloppy care for the story at the end.
Nothing much can be done now though. Hopefully - for the authors sake, others enjoy it more.
