The Suspect
A psychological thriller with a psychologist as the main character- Joseph(Joe) O’Loughlin. He examines the good, the bad, and the ugly of psychological counselling and practice against the effects of chronic illness on himself, personally and professionally, and on his relationships. The major premise of the perpetrator developed through the books is questioned/modified by an unexpected revelation in the last pages. A most enjoyable and enthralling read. A book to read again and again to find aspects you missed the first time around. RECOMMENDED.
Disappointing
The sexist undertones were compounded by the ‘hell hath no fury ……..’ quote. Quite ironic when it’s men who assault and kill, as evidenced in this book. Joe is a bloviating bore with an obsession with breasts (as are myriad male authors). Long passages of boring text which I skipped. The ending was a cliched ‘they all lived happily ever after’.
