The Waves of Life, Books 1,2,&3 The Island, Headhunters, & The New Old World

Publisher Description

The Waves Of Life is a collection of three closely related fictional books. While fictional, and yet hopefully entertaining, these books try to paint a picture of real-life experiences that many Christians face today. They deal with sadness, success, failure, fears (both real and imagined), rejection, birth, death, faith, and trust in God. The books also utilize Scripture taken straight from the King James Version of the Bible, and attempt to provide the reader with concise, real-life examples of how the Scriptures are applicable to our lives today. Besides the ups and downs of life, the overall theme of the three books together is as is stated in Romans 8:23, where it says: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

The first book, The Island, tells of the sometimes misadventures of Jack Weston, and how he was swept away in a hurricane, only to be deposited on the shore of a populated but isolated jungle island in the Pacific Ocean, where Jack learned that when it comes to God's hand in our lives, there is no such thing as a coincidence. It goes on to tell how he met his wife to be, his call from God to be a missionary, and how, through his faith in God, he became a catalyst that spurred the Christianization of many pagan islanders.

The second book, Headhunters, tells of Jack's further adventures on The Island, and how in spite of injuries, which would cause most of us to give up, his addiction to island pain medications, being ambushed by tribal warriors, and even almost losing his head to a headhunter, he perseveres, debunking some of the myths and misunderstandings that the islanders have always held as truths. Through births, deaths, hardships, and disease, Jack still has faith that God has a purpose for all that happens in his life, even if he never knows the full extent of it.

The third book, The New Old World, which is set in the future, finds Jack's grandson, John Weston, who has rejected God and Jesus Christ, onboard an interplanetary spaceship, transporting persecuted Christians to a new settlement on a planet that is not in our solar system but still in our galaxy. What could have been a total disaster hits the ship, resulting in John meeting a young woman, who helps him come back to Christ, and also causing the ship's course to be redirected to a planet in a galaxy different from our own. Once on the new planet, they find a world that is very similar to what the Old World here on Earth was like before the flood. The two questions that are on most minds is: Will we ever be able to return to Earth? And is God still God, even though far from Earth in deep outer space? John doesn't fall far from the tree with respect to his grandfather Jack, in that he falls into one misadventure after another, until God finally gets him set straight.

The overall three book volume consists of over 600 pages, and carries the Waves Of Life theme throughout, where just like waves on the ocean, we are up one minute, and down the next, only to continue repeating with no end, until we eventually make it to Heaven. And speaking of going to Heaven, in the second book, Headhunters, Jack goes into detail with his father-in-law on the Biblical journey of going to Heaven, and while you may not agree with it, I feel that it is an accurate description of what the Bible has to say about it.

While some may think that Book 3, The New Old World, teaches life on other planets, and while it is my opinion that we should never try to place limits on God's power, that is not what is being taught, but instead, the underlying theme of that book is that wherever man is, that God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is there also.
