The perfect killer has no friends. Only targets.
For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art. And he is the city's most accomplished artist, his talents required from alleyway to courtly boudoir.
For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned the hard way to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint.
But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and cultivate a flair for death.
***Also available as a graphic novel adaptation, coming April 2014***
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The first book in a bestselling series, Brent Week’s accomplished career began with this riveting yarn about lowly Azoth’s path to becoming a master assassin. Fast-paced and loaded with action, it takes you on a highly enjoyable thrill ride.
I love this book and the trilogy. A story that is set in the slums of a city. A great point of view and a gripping story. If you have the money then I recommend you read it
The characters are fantastic, but throughout the book I found it very confusing to follow what was going on, I had to read the several pages twice to understand what was actually going on.
Other than that it's a great book which I recommend for those who love fantasy.
A new fav!
Just finished book one and loved it. Truly good fantasy is hard to come by these days, but this book had me hooked in a way that only my old favorites usually can.
I loved the storyline and the characters and can't wait to read the next one now. I applaud Weeks ability to draw me in and feel so connected to the characters in just one book. Love it
