It’s okkkkk now I have to finish the series
I read this quite quickly as it’s really fast paced east read. absolutely love that there’s no smut and minimal spice but it still has all of the makings for I feel good fantasy escapism novel. it does feel quite young and still can’t wrap my head around the ages of cardan and Jude but entertaining nonetheless. Have to say the twist at the end really got me though.
Beats the first book easily
This series gets better as you progress I have discovered! The first half of the first book didn’t catch me, and the tone was off, but as the action and intrigue ramps up, the rhythm of the writing makes way more sense and hurtles the plot along.
I’m really enjoying how complicated the politics are, even if it’s a little rushed in parts. The characters have slowly grown on me, though now I do still find the world building a bit undercooked.
This is a fast, fun, unpredictable read. It’s easy and enjoyable and has its moments of poignant, beautiful writing.
