An Apple Books Classic edition.
You’ve seen the iconic 1939 movie, but do you know about the talking field mice, the Winkies, and the Witch of the North that appear in the original book? L. Frank Baum’s beloved classic - the first title in the Oz series - is more complex and intricate than the movie, but just as colorful and fun. The story features a large cast of enchanting characters and a thrilling heroic quest.
Upon the book’s release in 1900, Baum wrote, “It aspires to be a modernized fairy tale, in which the wonderment and joy are retained and the heart-aches and nightmares are left out.” Mission accomplished. Readers of all ages immediately fell in love with the story, demanding sequels, and Baum obliged, penning more than a dozen installments before his death in 1919.
Ninth in Ingpen's series of illustrated classics, this atmospheric outing blends elements of American realism with elegant whimsy. With surprising emotion, Ingpen conveys the Tin Woodman's grim transformation, one limb at a time, from a human into a metal automaton; his scrawny Wicked Witch of the West, with her spidery black hair, overcoat, and striped stockings, would be equally at home roaming New York City's West Village as she would the yellow brick road. Readers yet to discover the story of Oz will find a wholly original vision in this edition. Ages 10 up.

The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz
This book is a super creative. I love how Scarecrow, Woodman and Lion can all talk. There was various diferences between all the worlds they visited. Her friends are very helpful and brave, they saved the others many times. At the end Oz was a rondom man, he had been a hambug and tricked everyone in the Emerald City. I especially like the part when they arrive at the land of the South. This book is amazing and gives me ideas for my own writing. 👍🏻👏🏼
