To Have and To Lose

There’s no one I hate more than my brother’s best friend.

Jace is arrogant, annoying, and has been tormenting me my whole life. So I've done what any fairy princess would do: I've waged war on him. He wants to teach all the birds in our aviary to crap on me, then I'll sic a creature in heat on him. He attacks my books, I'll wax off all his hair.

But then the jerk does something truly horrendous: he becomes my royal guard.

Now I'm stuck with him all the bloody time.

And that annoyance he fills me with is starting to turn into something else... Something hot and dangerous that's going to get one of us killed. Because to have anything in this messed up world is to lose it all.

A princess cannot become queen without eliminating those closest to her.
