Publisher Description
Rhett Hutchence, the younger brother of rock superstar Michael Hutchence, has lived a very different life to his famous sibling. At the age of 13, his mother took only Michael to America when she left the boys' father. Introduced to drugs at a young age, Rhett embarks on a lifetime of drug abuse to cope. Yet, after Michael's death in 1997, it was Rhett who was left standing...and on the road to recovery. Rhett's story traces life in suburban Sydney during the seventies, when he and Michael were in their early teens. He tells of the early days of INXS when they began performing in pubs and how the band is 'discovered', tours the world and records a string of hit albums. Rhett's story gives a rare insight into Michael's rise to fame in intimate letters and conversations while at the same time revealing his journey into drugs and living the life of an addict.

Loved it
I loved this book. It was raw, funny, sad and full of brotherly love from both men. Reading the letters Michael wrote to Rhett when he was away touring his frustrations of a loving big brother looking out for his younger brother. Trying to make him see reason and set him on the right paths. The little brother saying yeah yeah man don't tell me what to do but all the while knowing his big brother was lovingly and gently pushing him to grow. I felt Rhetts sadness and anxiety being the one left behind as a young boy and missing out on his big brothers presence then and now; after having shared much of their lives hanging out together. For me this is a book about brotherly love. Two men who had a great friendship, loyalty and love for one another. I miss Michaels presence so much .... I can't begin to know how much his family miss him....:(
Surprising, raw and from the heart
Bawled my eyes out, laughed with such conviction. Could not put it down.
