Wonderfully written, exquisite prose and insightful observations. Steinbeck and Charley provide an engaging explanation of life in USA. Their road trip's observations predict many of USA's challenges in the 21st century. Written in 1960, this book provides insights about consumerism, the power of nature and explanations of the best and worst of humanity. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a road trip, dogs and honest engagement with ordinary people.
