Publisher Description

A collection of honest and vulnerable poems, Truths to be Spoken gives a metaphoric glimpse into the life of the average American and the costs of living in modern society.

With vivid imagery and eloquent speech, author Stephanie Shaffer describes her own personal struggle with religion, the nuances of familial relationships and found family, and her battle with mental illness. Though specific to one person, the poems in Truths to be Spoken are universal thanks to Shaffer’s genuine and emotion-packed language. If you’re looking for contemporary poetry to connect with, this book would be perfect for you.

About the Author

Born in Pennsylvania and now living there with her two children, Stephanie Shaffer spends her nights working in a metal shop and her days crafting stunning heartfelt poetry. She first began writing when she was twelve years old, and during her time in high school she entered a multitude of poetry contests through Iliad Press and Famous Poets, even publishing five of her poems. She won an award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry by the International Society of Poets.

Stephanie’s creativity extends past words on paper, to charcoal paintings and pencil drawings. Yet, she’s known since she was young that poetry is what she was meant to do. She enjoys writing about real-life scenarios—or just anything that pops into her head! Truths to be Spoken is her first published poetry collection, and she hopes to continue independently publishing in the future.
