Under Drake's Flag

The young, fifteen-year-old Ned Hearne is the main protagonist of this story, trough whose eyes, we see the struggle between Great Britain and Spain for supremacy of the high seas.

Ned is brave and intelligent boy from Plymouth who lives with his father. As a good swimmer, one day he saves a child from drowning when a ship hits a reef.  Captain Francis Drake is on shore watching Ned. After the incident, Francis asks Ned to join him on his ship. When Ned accepts the offer, he doesn’t have a clue how much his life will change. Ned and Francis, together with his three friends go on an amazing adventure across the Pacific. 


Along his journey, Ned witnesses the naval battle between the English fleet and the Spanish Armada and sees the rise of the most powerful seagoing nation in the world – England.

On his journey across the sea, Ned has a lot of adventures. He kills a shark, lives with slaves, becomes a god, fights the Spaniards the Indians, and many other adventures.
