Publisher Description

Defendant Wesley Lee Bell appeals his conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). He argues that the district court erred in not allowing him to introduce evidence supporting a justification defense. According to Bells proffer, he possessed the firearm to protect himself against individuals who had shot at and threatened him several days earlier. We affirm on the ground that the facts proffered were insufficient to establish a justification defense.
