Publisher Description
BOGGS, Circuit Judge. Jerry A. Crawford appeals his conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm that had travelled in interstate commerce, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g). The district court sentenced Crawford to fifteen years of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Crawford raises two issues on appeal: 1) whether the district court erred by failing to dismiss the indictment because Crawford was not brought to trial within the time limits mandated by the Speedy Trial Act; and 2) whether the district court erred by failing to charge the jury on the proposed justification defense recognized by this court in United States v. Singleton, 902 F.2d 471, 472 (6th Cir.), cert. denied, 111 S. Ct. 196, 112 L. Ed. 2d 158 (1990).
