Updates from the State Board of Nursing (Colorado State Board of Nursing‪)‬

The State Board of Nursing is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Dopke, J.D. to the Board of Nursing effective September 19, 2008. Mr. Dopke replaces Dennis Kaw, J.D. as one of the public member representatives on the Board. At the Quarterly Full Board Meeting the Board held a Rulemaking Hearing where the Board heard testimony regarding proposed amendments to the Chapter I--Rules and Regulations for the Licensure of Practical and Professional Nurses. The purpose of these changes was to incorporate language to further clarify the new requirements for "Inactive Status" for RNs and LPNs as set forth by section 12-38-118.5 of the Colorado Revised Statutes. The Board adopted the proposed amendments and the new Chapter I Rules will be effective December 30, 2008 at which time they will be posted on the Board's website: http://www.dora.state.co.us/nursing
