Publisher Description
Part one of the epic three-part conclusion to the Ruthless People and Children of Vice series…
In the end…we all lose.
How well do you think you know the Callahans?
Yes, I'm asking you. Because I know you've been watching. The chaos, the violence, the love, and the madness—who could look away? Not me, for sure.
My grandmother always told me…where you look is where you go.
So I ask again, how well do you think you know the Callahans? Do you really think you understand Melody, Liam, or even Ethan?
I have to wonder—will your mind be able to handle it?
We haven't met yet, but ready or not, here I come. The true queen of Chicago.
For now, you may call me Calliope.
Catch up on the Children of Vice Series:

So amazing JJ!
I’ve read the whole Ruthless People series and have been waiting very impatiently for Vicious Minds to come out. Now I’m going to be waiting impatiently for part 2 🙈
I love the twists and turns in your books. You never know what’s coming and I’m forever having to go back and reread to make sure I’ve not made a mistake 😂
Can’t wait for part 2! Please hurry 😁
Speechless
GOD.. their book is is messed up and catching that I couldn’t stop reading it. The author has outdone herself with this book. I though the story of Melody and Liam was different and so full of mysteries but Calliope is just a whole different story... just when I though that I knew the ending, it changes and I am left speechless and still not believing what just happened... Melody is still my very favourite character nobody and I mean nobody not eve calliope can outsmart her.. Melody knows what is happening, after all she is the QUEEN 😍😍😘😘
Addictive series
If you’ve just picked this book up, you might find it hard to follow. It unpacks a lot of the narrative in the Children of Vice series, so you could read it asking ‘what is going on?’.
As a person who has read the series and a bit of a JJ McAvoy fan, I’m giving this the benefit of the doubt. I didn’t love love this book. Sure there are some hot scenes, and the story line is pretty interesting and new... but the character development of Ethan, over the previous series is pretty much shot to pieces. This is a pretty extreme reversal that makes you question the author herself. It’s a risk to do this, and I don’t think JJ McAvoy has pulled it off.
Overall, the book is good-ish. Do Ethan & Calli instill the same level of intrigue and love as Melody and Liam, I would say no. But there is always Part 2.
