Janine Devereaux, wife of wealthy African American businessman Arthur Devereaux, has been murdered. The police have written off the case as a robbery-homicide, but Janine's sister Marilyn holds Arthur responsible. When she hires George Eaton and Karla Bassett, Detroit private detectives and onetime lovers, they soon become aware of disturbing scrutiny of their investigation. As George grows more and more obsessed with proving Arthur Devereaux's innocence, he and Karla realize they are not only hunters, but hunted.
