I have been reading Howard’s books for a long time now. Finkler was a triumph and all of the novels have had my interest but this latest is a jewel of a book and an enormous pleasure to read.
I am not going to summarize the book but just to say it puts love and passion at middle age into an alluring light. But beyond this Jacobson is a consummate wordsmith and literary miner. The work is rich with allusions and subtle word plays. In short it is a joy to read and a great way to spend your time.
