“When The Plundering Is Done” is a curated conglomeration of my prose and poetic op-eds, essays, poems about the people, piety, politics, and policies of the Trump era, to date. They are a purging of sorts, a civilized way to deal with my anger and angst.

I couldn’t just let it all evaporate into the digital ether, so I consolidated everything I’ve published during the Trump years into a chronological, historical reference. Each chapter represents a moment of angst, anger, clarity, joy, or whatever it is that inspires someone to grab a computer and start banging the keys like they are in the heat of battle with a deadly adversary who will just not fucking die.

I believe enlightenment is best acquired when independent thinkers engage and explore alternative points of view, form opinions and convictions empirically, and tender perspectives without reservation.They’re merely what we believe to be true at a given point in time, subject to change as we evolve, and nothing anyone should get their panties in a knot over. That’s what healthy human growth looks like.

In 2016, as all the political shenanigans were unfolding, long dormant emotions and sensibilities awakened in me. I was compelled to engage, but lacked confidence to express myself. I needed to figure out where my give-a-shit factor was on stuff. So I began writing about the stuff that was pokin’ at me.

Writing forced me to scrutinize my "stuff”, and I learned a lot about my "self". I found I have a broad and abiding regard for embracing diversity and inclusion, the import of You Do You, Do No Harm, Leave No Trace, and I’m Ok, You’re Ok.

I don’t pigeon-hole myself politically. I’m merely a free-thinking, 60s-era bloke who realizes that life and the pursuit of happiness hinge on access to affordable healthcare, that liberty is only a thing when it is color-blind, and that big business can never be trusted to prioritize anything or anyone over its bottom line.
