Wine and Roses

A volume of poetry by noted Australian poet Victor James William Patrick Daley, Wine and Roses is said to be the most impressive anthology of his works. Wine and Roses is complete with poems about the drink and the feelings one has while drinking the beverage. Born in Ireland and educated in England, Daley arrived in Australia in 1878 and became employed as a freelance journalist and writer in Melbourne and Sydney. After becoming acquainted with famous novelist Marcus Clarke and bush poet Henry Kendall, Daley began to write essays and poetry in addition to his freelance work. Known as being the first Australian author to pursue writing as a full-time occupation, Daley’s works reflect his passion for the art.
