To everyone else, Hunter Caldwell is the most powerful man in New York. But to me? Hunter is just my best friend… my sinfully attractive best friend. When he needs my help, I instantly say yes.
It all starts as pretend…
Our first kiss is unexpected—but it still makes my skin sizzle, my knees go weak. The next one is in front of his tight-knit family. We have to be convincing. But it's so wicked hot, it almost fools me too.
On our first night together, he tells me that I have to keep us both in check, because he doesn't know how. Our second night is sexy as hell.
How am I supposed to keep the lines between real and pretend from blurring?
5* Not Fake Marriage Stars
Layla is one of my favourite authors and I was so excited to begin a new series in the lives of the Winchesters family, their cousin Hunter and his best friend Josie.
Hunter and Josie have been best friends since school and both of them have been hiding their feelings for each other in a civil way. Everything changes when Hunter, who is a British Citizen, finds out that his visa will not be renewed and his only hope of staying in America, where he is a highly successful businessman, is to marry his best friend Josie. Faking their marriage was not as easy as it seems given the chemistry between them, convincing immigration agents and the consequences surrounding Josie’s career.
The journey that Hunter and Josie face to get to their HEA is emotional and tests their long-time friendship. The chemistry between them was undeniably hot!
The secondary characters in the story are wonderful and I am so excited to get to know them better in whatever Layla brings us next.
Once again Layla had delivered a super sexy, slow burn, friends to lover’s romance with characters you will fall in love with.
Layla Hagen is a relatively new author to me and I’m really struggling to understand why she hasn’t crossed my path before now because every book I have picked up has been beautifully written and extremely entertaining and I think I need to find some time to read her previous books. You’re The One is book 1 in her new series and if this book is anything to go by she will have a hit series on her hands for sure. I was captivated from the first page and there was no putting down until I had read the final line and I still wanted more, a sure sign you are reading something special. Hunter still holds his British citizenship, he has have lived in the US since childhood and he owns and runs a very successful business so he never felt the need to apply for US citizenship until the day his E2 Visa got refused.... Josie is one of his best friends, she is everything he could ever want in a woman but up until now friendship was enough, she a successful lawyer and a person who will help wherever she can but will she be prepared to do what is needed to keep her best friend in the country...... I also lived and owned a business in the US on an E2 Visa so I know how that works and this author got her facts spot on and maybe that help me relate to the story or maybe it’s just a great read. The chemistry this couple share is intense and scorching hot and I found myself loving them, this book ticked all my boxes and I’m sure it will tick yours as well so please one click this entertaining must read. Looking forward to what’s coming next in this series.
