THE BOOK BEHIND THE SECOND SEASON OF GAME OF THRONES, AN ORIGINAL SERIES NOW ON HBO.
Here is the second book in the landmark series that has redefined imaginative fiction and become a modern masterpiece.
A CLASH OF KINGS
A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war. It is a tale in which brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night. Here a princess masquerades as an orphan boy; a knight of the mind prepares a poison for a treacherous sorceress; and wild men descend from the Mountains of the Moon to ravage the countryside. Against a backdrop of incest and fratricide, alchemy and murder, victory may go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel . . . and the coldest hearts. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles.
A GAME OF THRONES • A CLASH OF KINGS • A STORM OF SWORDS • A FEAST FOR CROWS • A DANCE WITH DRAGONS
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The scope of George R.R. Martin’s intricate, volatile world expands exponentially in A Clash of Kings, the sweeping second installment in his renowned A Song of Ice and Fire series. King Robert Baratheon is dead and so is the singularly honorable Ned Stark. Now, five claimants wage a war for the throne, and the fates of countless characters are interwoven into a dark and complex tapestry whose final image has yet to be revealed. From the alliances and betrayals between the noble houses to wildlings uniting under the King-Beyond-the-Wall to Daenerys Targaryen and her newly hatched dragons across the narrow sea, every storyline here is masterfully plotted and rivetingly intense. Martin doesn’t go easy on his characters, least of all the six Stark siblings, but the danger of this world and its endless Machiavellian twists are exactly what make it so captivating. Narrator Roy Dotrice has a commanding gravity that’s utterly suited to this rapturous fantasy epic.

Unexpected
Completely different from what people are used to hearing.
Please hire a new reader.
It’s an excellent book of course. However the audiobook reader makes it quite difficult to understand what exactly is going on. He is an excellent reader historically. He’s excellent at communicating facts, but his voice is not suited for this story holding multiple viewpoints. There is literally no change in his voice showing any hint of emotion from character to character. I’ve purchased the audiobooks in lieu of a YouTuber-reader’s channel being copyright struck, and this paid version truly does not measure up. This reader sounds like he is just trying to get to the end of the book for a paycheck. It truly is a shame that such a wonderful story is made less enjoyable due to the reader.
Great Book bad Reader
The audiobook reader makes anyone who’s not a main character sound mentally challenged. Poor Bron sounds like he was dropped 7-8 times as a baby. Any peasant and even some highborn men are completely intelligible. He slurs their speech beyond what a normal person should sound like. Imagine listening to 1000 pages of Mord conversing with Hodor. Really sad that this is the only option to listen to but I’m just gonna push through because I paid $30 for this and I’m not gonna waste it.
