The ending made it
Found this in a list of books the make you cry. Half way through I wasn’t sure why it made the cute for the list. 4 stars because I did find the middle to be a little slow but the ending was great and made the whole book worth the read- didn’t see that coming at all!
Very Sweet
I’ve been digging the romance genre lately, and this one did NOT disappoint. At first, I didn’t want to give it a chance because I am not a history buff (half of the setting is WW2), but I gave it a go anyways, and I do believe this is my favorite romance novel to date, so I’m extremely glad I gave it a chance. I’ve already recommended it to my good reader friend as well. I like how the novel went in between “now” and “then,” and it was super easy to follow, not only with the narrators’ accents changing but the words RY chose for the time periods. I liked the narrators quite a lot actually - they really went into the characters and had enthusiasm or solemness when appropriate. I cried at least three times (but I am also easy to cry so take that for what you will), and the ending got me good. I got through this novel in about three days, listening on the way to and from work and getting ready for the day. Spicy parts were spicy but nothing wild - just simply good and appropriate, all things considered. Highly recommend if you’re looking for heart wrenching but happy.
Drawn out
Pretty boring and dragged out until the last 40 mins when it got good.
