A young widower, Germain, lives with her parents and three beautiful children. His stepfather drives him to remarry for the sake of children. Germain agrees to visit a widow from a nearby area looking for a new husband. He agrees to accompany Mary, a girl who has found a place on a farm in the same area. A children Germain Petit-Pierre, managed to follow them. Marie takes care of him like a real mother. While a storm breaks, they take refuge in the forest and camped on the edge of a pond.
