APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Katrina King is in serious danger—of becoming famous. The former model has fled as far from the spotlight as possible, but a random chat with a cute stranger at a coffee shop blows up into a social-media love-at-first-sight story. The ensuing frenzy to unite #CafeBae and #CuteCafeGirl threatens to disrupt the privacy Kat has cultivated in order to manage her anxiety disorder. We were struck by this tender romantic comedy’s realistic and moving portrayal of mental illness, not just for the book’s heroine but her love interest: sweet bodyguard Jasvinder, an Iraq War vet turned whistleblower whose struggle with PTSD means he understands Kat in a way few others could. Narrators Summer Morton and Brian Pallino really capture the cautiousness of Alisha Rai’s sensitive protagonists. Their nuanced performances left no doubt about Kat and Jas’ affinity for trust and communication over reckless abandon. That’s what makes them perfect for each other, and what made Girl Gone Viral such a wonderful listen.
