Then a former soldier is found with his throat cut. Next Harry's former partner is murdered. Why had she been trying to reach Harry on the night her head was smashed in? The investigation leads Harry to suspect that the crimes have their roots in the battlefields of Eastern Front during WWII. And he must be stopped
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The third in the Harry Hole series, but the first to be translated into English—this is where Jo Nesbø’s detective saga really exploded into life. We meet Harry in a soon-to-be-familiar plight: licking his wounds after a botched operation but soon discovering something very sinister just under the surface of a routine investigation. We’re quickly zoomed into a world of neo-Nazis across the globe with Hole’s devil-may-care attitude sparking drama at every turn. Credit should go to narrator Robin Sachs, here: he captures the surly maverick’s personality beautifully and adds a frisson of tension only a great audiobook can provide.
