Conditioned as a small child not to feel, to lurk and hide amongst the shadows, Mara knows nothing about the world, about warmth, love, emotion. To her the world holds nothing but coldness, an impenetrable darkness that follows wherever she treads. Condemned from the moment she took her first breath, she is hunted by unknown forces, cursed for a legacy she didn't choose, isn't even aware exists.

It's not her fault that she's different, that the world fears her, rejects her. All she wants is a quiet life, a life where she can move forward without fear of those who creep up behind, a dagger in hand, her life, their goal. Unsure, apprehensive, she silently hopes that somewhere, just maybe, there is a place she can be safe, wanted… free from the shadow that seeks to claim her soul.
