He can write the perfect ending on a computer screen, but can he create one in real life?
For Brad Connors, life as a successful crime writer is everything he hoped—if only he had someone to share it with. So when his ex invites him to her wedding, he decides to play the game and attend. At the least, it’s an open bar.
Trial attorney Sophie Kellerman has found success prosecuting domestic abuse cases in the courtroom, but life recently brought the gavel down on her head. So she assumes that being set up as her old crush’s date to a wedding will also disapoint—but Brad turns out to be the smoking hot cowboy she didn’t see coming. And he’s ready to buy his parents’ ranch and settle down to boot.
But even as they wrap themselves in his sheets, their pasts are waiting in the wings, bringing chaos and confessions in their wake. Is Brad and Sophie’s relationship a rebound remedy or a love strong enough to stand up to the challenge?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Lynn (Take Me Away, Cowboy) adds a sparkling second installment to her Cowboys of Elk Ridge, Montana series. When trial lawyer Sophie Kellerman's boyfriend of five years, Drew, asks her to a special dinner, she thinks she's about to receive a marriage proposal, not an insulting offer of a junior partnership at his law firm. Meanwhile, cowboy–turned–bestselling crime novelist Brad Connors's long-term girlfriend Julia left him for his best friend, Chris. Both are jaded and not looking for love when they reconnect at Julia (who was Sophie's college roommate) and Chris's wedding—but chemistry instantly ignites between them. Not everyone is happy with their budding relationship, however: Brad's mother is determined to make him a better match and will do what it takes to break them up. The leads feel grounded and real, a solid supporting cast adds charm, and the novel's antagonists are satisfyingly dispatched by the end. Western romance fans will find this hits the spot.
