In a plot ripped from today’s headlines, attorney Jessica Fischer is back and must confront the small-town prejudices facing her trans client who just wants to apply to college as himself: What will prevail—the law or the cultural prejudice?

Alexander Kostas just wants to go off to college and start fresh like any other seventeen-year-old boy. Only his birth certificate says he’s a female, so he needs a court order to do it. Jessica Fischer wants to help him, and Alexander’s parents are supportive—but the community Alexander lives in is another story. Will the judge follow the law, or bow to the pressure of the community that dictates whether he’ll be re-elected for another term?
