Following the success of The Curious Letter of Mervyn Mudal, Neville was inspired to capture 50 of Mervyn’s tales – each in just 50 words.


Mervyn’s family and friends are a constant source of comedic events. Find out what happens when Mervyn embarks on a whisky diet, Uncle Rodney takes to the highway in his new car, Muriel brushes up on her Maths, a tribe of Cannibals are converted, Aubrey carries out a market survey and a murder takes place at the golf club.

About the Author: 



Neville Mills was born in South Africa at a very young age. After four years in England, he and his wife, Merope settled in Sydney in 1981. He was involved in executive recruitment for 27 years in Johannesburg, London and Sydney. He founded Maxim Executive Search in 1982 and sold the company in 2003. He moved from Sydney to Queensland and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Griffith University in 2007, majoring in writing. The Humphrey Hatt Letters, was published in 1998 and re-printed in 2010. He has written two children’s books, Snowybright and the Eight Dwarfs (2010) and Ralph, Buster and the World’s First Dogathlon (2012) The Curious Letters of Mervyn Mudal was published in 2015. He has been considered for neither the Children’s Laureate Award nor the Booker Prize, but did win the Under 11 Sack Race at his Primary School sports day.



About the Illustrator:

Roy Bisson is a cartoon illustrator, magazine designer and sometime photographer. Roy lives in a cave overlooking Nobbys Beach, Newcastle on the eastern coast of New South Wales. We let him out of the cage one Boxing day but unfortunately he went amok. Now securely locked away, for his own good and the general public, he is daily supplied with crayons and bananas. From this appetising combination he produced the cartoons in this book which he passed under the bars with the banana skins.
