Preview Summary:

Allie Brosh is a well-known name in the blogging world. Her blog Hyperbole and a Half, on which the book is based, is a mixture of various things such as her childhood stories, stories about her dogs and her problems with depression. This book follows the same pattern and begins by sharing a letter she wrote that she would read to herself when she turned twenty-five. She takes us through her childhood drama by responding to this letter and replying to all her younger selves, at whatever age they did something weird.

Editor’s Notes:

The author begins by talking about a letter she wrote as a ten-year-old to read when she was twenty-five. In this letter, she asks some very important questions about dogs and food; she wonders if her parents are still alive as an afterthought. She also introduces and describes herself and drew pictures of German Shepherds, and obviously expected an answer. In response, Brosh decides to write back to all her weird younger selves, at several ages starting from two. She tells the two- year-old that face cream is not frosting and the four- year-old that eating salt and pepper do not cancel each other out. She continues with a reply to the five-year-old to stop picking her chicken pox scars and berates the six-year-old for not being able to master the letter ‘R’. She also tells the seven-year-old not to take off her clothes in public and finally ends with letters..
