The story hinges on a fateful night in the kingdom of Northumbria in AD638. Two young men dig up a priceless treasure hoard and re-bury it on a lonely hillside. Events twist and turn over the next few weeks towards a nerve-wracking climax as they are pulled in different directions, their loyalties tested to the limit repeatedly.
