When argumentative ensign Yas is posted to the Ragnarok he thinks it's a punishment. The Raggy is a joke of a ship under a washed out captain, and it's been mapping dust clouds on the edge of the galaxy for the last five years.

But something unbelievable is moving in the interstellar void. Thousands of years ago, the powerful aliens—whom the human race worshipped as the Norse gods—left our galaxy, and the memory of them descended into myth. Now they're back, and they're bringing their war against mankind's monsters with them.

Yas's family is right in their path. With his laughingstock of a crew, what can he do to save his world, his civilization, from the terrors of an ancient age?
