Summoning my Ghost

Camelia summons her late husband each year during the Witching Hour when the veil between the living and the death is the thinnest. This year will be his last visit, so she intends to make the most of their time together.

Samuel spends his time in the spirit world, looking forward to the Witching Hour so he can reunite with his wife again. She doesn't need to say the words, as he already knows this year will be their last. He will show her how much he loves her in their final moment together until they meet again in the next life. 

Excerpt:
"During this witching hour, I call upon the ancient powers. Spirits of the night let me see, my dearest departed husband before me."
With the last word still hanging in the air, the fire of the candles shivered, and the smell of sulfur filled the room. When the temperature dropped, I opened my eyes, and my husband stood before me. 
Samuel opened his arms with a dazzling smile. "My dearest Camelia, it has been too long."
"Only a year, my dear," I said as I stepped into his icy embrace.
I loved the feel of his cold, but solid arms around me. He was becoming clearer by the second, gaining his strength from the spell and my crystals. He cupped my cheek, raising my head so he could study me like he did every year.
"Looking radiant as ever, my love."
I smiled at his endearment and obvious lie. He looked exactly the same as the day he died, only pale, and vaguely translucent. Samuel would never age another day, while my hair was dusted with the gray of my years and wrinkles that no potion or cream could deter covered my face.
"And you're as charming as always," I said.
