A systems engineer in health care is a trained engineer who focuses on improving existing work processes or designing new processes to maximize efficiencies and minimize waste without adverse impact to patient safety and quality. Systems engineers have various engineering backgrounds with additional systems improvement training in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
