Publisher Description

The appellant, Edmundo Howard-Arias was convicted after a jury trial of possession of marijuana on the high seas with intent to distribute it and of possession with intent to import it into the United States under 21 U.S.C. §§ 955a(a) and 955a(d). He was sentenced to consecutive terms of imprisonment, and separate special parole terms were imposed on each count. His appeal challenges certain evidentiary rulings, procedures used during the sentencing phase of his trial, and his multiple convictions and sentences, contending that they violate the double jeopardy clause of the fifth amendment. Finding no merit to his arguments, we affirm.
