We Didn't Want to Come Here

As two ESL teachers (Ms. Cucinotta and Ms. Shahid), we know that our classrooms not only allow our students to thrive, but they are also a safe space where students can express their identity and not be punished for it. An ESL teacher is often a student’s advocate in a school setting which might be less understanding or considerate to the student’s needs. This book is dedicated to all the students we have taught who have shaped our lives and taught us in more ways than we could have ever hoped.
