What Is Writing‪?‬

A brief introduction to writing as an act of communication that explains how and why writing is never just one thing, but rather always, at the same time, several different things that fall into three broad categories:  writing as an action, writing as a process, and writing as an object.  Presenting a structural framework for understanding the many aspects of what writing is and the basic elements that constitute it, this book enables readers to understand how writing functions as a means of communication and how the various elements of writing interact and relate to one another every time someone sits down to write.
