When The Gods Fail: Darkness

WHEN THE GODS FAIL: DARKNESS
Volume IV of the Failure of the Gods Series

A man from Earth. An empire among the stars. A darkness that threatens far more than either can imagine.

More than a year has passed since the events that changed the lives of Bryce Tyrell and the survivors of the Intrepid. The wounds of the past have begun to heal, but conflicts that threaten the civilizations of their adopted world remain far from resolved. The mighty Roman Empire stands at a crossroads. Caesar Marcus Julius Messalla prepares to relinquish the throne, even as political intrigue, shifting alliances, and the seemingly endless war with the Carillian Empire threaten the peace he has fought to preserve.

Beyond Rome's borders, friends and allies struggle against their own Time of Darkness, while ancient enemies, unfamiliar civilizations, and dangerous new alliances begin to reshape the balance of power.

For Bryce Tyrell, once an officer aboard an Earth spaceship and now a Legatus of Rome, the challenges are increasingly personal. His loyalty, courage, convictions, and the relationships defining his life will be tested in ways he could never have anticipated. The past refuses to remain buried and the future offers questions for which neither Earth nor Rome has prepared him. As old enemies return and new powers emerge, Bryce must confront a question more difficult than any battlefield challenge: Can a man born on Earth survive in a Rome of the future?

Blending military science fiction, political intrigue, alien civilizations, complex relationships, and the enduring mysteries of humanity's past, Darkness continues R. Lee Keen's sweeping Failure of the Gods saga.
