While We Are Here, Let’s Be Friends

This is a story of two unlike teenaged boys who were raised differently during the same year, yet it seems at times growing up in different households attested they both grew up in different worlds. Despite their life journey of discovery of learning to build character, somehow, they became the best of friends

Having lived in San Diego, California for two years now, Leander Ray Darrington a well-behaved 14-year-old believed first, life revolved around basketball and second, you can never have too many friends. Leander's confidence showed. Maybe because not moving around from base to base anymore offered lots of opportunities like lasting friendships sparking from a simple game of P E basketball.  In life, things or people bring us together. Certain situations allow us to see and learn from them in a way we would never have had the opportunity otherwise.

Emil Von Holt is also a 14-year-old boy who will play basketball but doesn't have the same passion. Emil an only child was born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany. His father Otto is serving a life sentence in a German prison for killing his mama Helga. Emil has to live with his aunt uncle who also lives in San Diego, California. Welcome to freshman year in high school!

{Is this the reason Leander and Emil placed together in each other's lives? Together they will have to figure out what brought them both together and why. Because both boys come from such different experiences, they can each bring something lasting to their friendship. But like a plant, who needs water, sunlight, food, and attention, both boys will need similar things to become friends and keep that friendship growing.}
