Breaking Ties

Aubrey struggles to get herself to safety. Her sister and her sister's two boyfriends tied her up and left her for dead. Aubrey doesn't follow her sister's directions and makes it to the transport spot, registers, and gets her injuries healed in the repair unit. That is where things take a turn.

A small repair on her hand ends with her locked in the machine for hours while it runs design protocols that cause confusion and panic in the medical team. When the unit opens, she's taller, she's hungry, and Aubrey can see the future of individuals.

An oracle occurs occasionally in nature, but it is usually descended from Hmrain. Aubrey ends up tall with her own markings on her chest and lines for wings on her back. The repair unit gave her the one thing she really wanted. No one will mistake her for her sister again. It's the best present ever.
