Publisher Description

Elain Harwood reports on the ACE/RIBA Award for Religious Architecture We would like to thank Laura Moffatt, Director of ACE, and Piper Mavis, an intern who very ably stood in while Laura was on maternity leave. Laura assembled a formidable panel that was very broad in its scholarship and interests, and diverse in its background, yet one of the rewarding features of the challenge she set us was that we all became firm friends. We also reached a remarkable degree of consensus, indeed unanimity in our eventual selection of both the shortlist and the winner. As the chair, I would like to thank my fellow jurors most warmly for their support and dedication--travelling long distances to attend meetings and site visits, and even being stopped by the police speeding by bicycle to the awards ceremony!
