Publisher Description
After the death of the king, his son Edward the second, sends a letter to his favorite, Gaveston, in which he tells him that he can return to the country. On his way to Westminster, Gaveston overhears the new king, Edward II, talking with the lords. He learns that the noblemen don’t want him back, but the king doesn’t care and he won’t send to exile Gaveston again. They even treat Edward with an open war, if Gaveston remains in England. Most angry of the noblemen is the young Mortimer.
Hearing all of this, Gaveston is happy that the king protects him, and then he shows himself. In almost the same moment, Edward II rewards him with titles and honors. Then, the Bishop of Coventry, the man who passed the sentence of exile on Gaveston, enters and is immediately upset to see Gaveston back. He states that there will be punishment for this breaking of the law, which causes Edward to send him to prison.
When there are many powerful people against one man it is difficult for the man to win. Or not..
Will Mortimer and the other lords succeed in their plan to send Gaveston to exile once more? Will the kingdom suffer because of the decision of Edward the second?
