ABSTRACT Effects of the outcome devaluation and inflation on the association response-outcome in an instrumental task with humans. Response-Outcome (R-O) association in animals has been evaluated by using the devaluation and inflation techniques. Two experiments were conducted with the aim of proposing a technique that would allow for the study of the R-O relationship in humans. Experiment 1 found that postconditioning devaluation of the outcome selectively reduces the response trained with that specific outcome. Experiment 2 found that postconditioning inflation of the outcome selectively increases the response associated to that specific reinforcer. These results suggest the developing of a R-O association in human instrumental conditioning.
