Home Safety: Room to Room

More people are seriously injured at home than at work. Why? Because there are common and hidden hazards within the home that we often overlook or 'accept' as part of life.

Each room within the house can pose a threat to our safety, security, and family well-being. The purpose of this series is to 'protect you and yours in and from your home' by uncovering those hazards so they can be removed, keeping us and our loved ones (including pets) safe and secure.

As a safety professional and emergency response provider, I repeatedly witnessed or responded to preventable injuries and illnesses directly related to hazards and people losing the battle against them. Though some of the chapters are written with a little humor - perhaps a result of years of running emergency calls - the information within this e-book can save your life or prevent a serious injury from occurring.

This series began as a column in a Chester, Virginia, newspaper in August 2006. It continues to run today in publications across the US.
