Was Sadie merely super private or was she hiding something?

Dating apps are filled with liars, and I'm officially done being disappointed. While all five of my siblings are married or engaged—and even my mom is happily dating a man rumored to be a serial killer—I'm flying solo in my hometown of Greenridge, Vermont.

Until I find a dead woman on my morning jog.

Only . . . she's not dead. She's meditating flat on her back in a grassy field. Who does that? Sadie Rodgers is captivating, mysterious, and skilled at getting under my skin—especially when she tells me my aura is murky. I'm not even sure what that means, but it feels like an insult. I don't believe in auras, chakras, sound baths, or any of that crunchy nonsense, but I can't stop thinking about her.

When my sister volunteers me to help Sadie set up the tech side of her new mindfulness business, I tell myself it's strictly professional. Websites, branding, systems—I've got this. What I don't have is a clue why Sadie refuses to put her picture or bio online. Or why she dodges every personal question I ask her. Or why my instincts tell me what's developing between us might not be real.

Then again, perhaps Sadie is just shy, and I can give her the time she needs to trust me.

But maybe I'm a fool for trusting her.

The more time I spend with Sadie, the more she feels like the soulmate I've been wishing to find. Secrets hum louder than Sadie's crystal singing bowls, however, and it's possible I've fallen for a woman who can never be mine.
